Coaching For Mamas
We Were Never Meant to Do This Alone
Child-rearing used to be a community event. New and expecting mothers were supported by other mothers, grandmothers, friends, and aunties. And even before becoming parents, most young women had been enfolded in circle, watching, learning, and participating.
But somewhere along the we lost the village.
We stopped meeting in third spaces.
We started spending more time alone in our homes.
And in that void, we turned to millions of faceless strangers on the internet.
So much noise. So many strong opinions. And many of them contradicting each other.
It can be hard to feel yourself think with so much noise.
It can feel less like support than harsh criticism.
As a parenting coach, I help you tune out the external voices and tune into yourself.
You may be thinking to yourself, “But M.J., I don’t know anything about babies and parenting! Do you really expect me to just intuitively know what to do?”
That’s such a valid question. And the answer is no, I don’t. That’s why I’m a parenting coach!
I have decades of experience as a mom, grandma, parenting mentor, doula, childbirth educator, and midwife, as well as an educational background in psychology.
I do believe it is important to understand the most up to date information about pregnancy, babies, and parenting.
Once you have the objective facts, you can also learn to trust your inner voice.
Attuned parenting is both a science and an art.
Coaching can help you incorporate both so you can tune in and turn towards your child with confidence.
Remember: your baby doesn’t need you to be perfect. They need you to be present.

As a culture, we treat parenting as a private, lone endeavor
We expect mothers to know exactly what to do, even if they’ve never been around pregnancy or babies.
We’re hyper-critical of those who make different parenting choices, whether about feeding, sleep, or whether or not to return to work.
We are isolated and lonely, yet afraid to admit it and seek support.
We are deluged by advice from social media personalities who may or may not have any idea what they’re talking about.
We become perfectionistic, afraid of getting it wrong, and mired in shame, held hostage by a harsh inner critic, and feeling like no matter what choices we make, maybe we could have done better.
The good news is that it’s possible to learn new ways of thinking and behaving.
You can find calm and confidence on your parenting journey.
You can learn that it’s okay to make mistakes.
You can learn to trust yourself.
You can step into being the mother your baby needs: YOU.
You can learn to give yourself (and your baby) the unconditional love you’ve always yearned for.
I can help.
