Why Choose Mindfulness-Based Coaching?

People come to coaching for all kinds or reasons that, on the surface, might appear to have very little in common with one another. One person might be seeking support in learning how to curb people pleasing behaviors that have taken over their life, another might be a workaholic, and still another might be struggling with chronic procrastination. Someone else might be saying, “I’m a mess. My house is a mess. I say yes to everything and then let people down because I’m stretched too thin. I can never find my keys or get out the door on time.”

As different as these situations may appear, more often that not, they are just different manifestations of the same root issue: perfectionism.

Mindfulness increases self-compassion, as well as compassion for others. As compassion grows, your expectations and goals become more realistic, and the grip of perfectionism loosens.

Some people worry that if they let go of perfectionism, they will go too far in the opposite direction - they’ll simply stop caring, and nothing will get done. This sort of black and white thinking is a hallmark of perfectionism! When we release catastrophic, all or nothing thought patterns, we can overcome analysis paralysis and endless revisions, trusting that our best will be good enough.

With mindfulness-based coaching, you will learn techniques to increase your presence in the current moment. When you are present with what is, rather than ruminating over the past or experiencing anxiety over the future, you are able to act with clarity.

Are You Struggling With Perfectionism?

Perfectionism manifests in many different ways:

Do you worry that you’re you’re not a good enough parent?

Do you experience anxiety about “getting it right”?

Do you struggle with boundaries, people-pleasing behaviors, burnout, imposter syndrome, or a harsh inner critic?

Do you feel like no matter how much you do or how well you do it, it’s never enough?

Do you feel like your work is never done because you get stuck in cycles of endless revisions?

Do you have impossibly high standards for yourself and/or other people?

Do you struggle with food and body image?

Do you have a hard time relinquishing control and letting other people help, because you’re the only one who will do it “right”?

Do you struggle with lateness, disorganization, and feel like your house, car, desk, or life is a mess?

If you answered yes to one or more of these questions, mindfulness coaching can help.

Is Your Child Struggling With Perfectionism?

Do they have an outsized fear of “getting in trouble”?

Do they express worry that people will be mad at them if they make a mistake?

Does their self-worth rely grades, test scores, or performance in extra-curricular activities?

Are they afraid to leave the house without looking just right?

Do they struggle with body image and food issues?

When they try something new, do they give up quickly or become embarrassed, tearful, or angry if they aren’t immediately good at it?

Do they try to hide mistakes?

Do they frequently compare themselves unfavorably with peers or social media influencers?

Do they hold others to impossibly high standards?

If one or more of these statements resonate, your child may benefit from mindfulness coaching.

As a culture, we talk about perfectionism as though it’s something to be proud of, a humble brag, the thing that makes us worthwhile.

None of this is true. Perfectionism makes us feel unseen, exhausted, and resentful.

Perfectionism keeps us stuck.

The good news is that it’s possible to learn new ways of thinking and behaving.

You can discover your intrinsic self-worth.

You can learn that it’s okay to make mistakes.

You can learn to say no.

You can learn to give yourself the unconditional love you’ve always yearned for.

I can help.
